2020 German Riding Pony Gelding – Golden Grey x Kendra (by Kachunga)
Grand Slam is a superb 6-year-old gelding of the German riding pony breed, standing 1.49 m tall. With his harmonious conformation, lovely bay coat, excellent balance and particularly pleasant temperament, he is an ideal partner for a young rider looking to progress to FEI Pony events, but also for a small adult or a para-dressage rider seeking a pony that is already well advanced in its training.
A cross between Golden Grey and Kendra (by Kachunga), Grand Slam boasts recognised lineage within the German sport pony breed, combining good movement, ease of handling and an excellent temperament.
Lineage geared towards dressage
His sire, Golden Grey, is renowned for producing modern, elegant and easy-to-ride ponies, endowed with beautiful movement, good balance and a great willingness to work.
On the dam’s side, Kachunga contributes strength, suppleness and an excellent temperament – qualities that are particularly sought after for producing high-performing sport ponies that remain approachable to their riders.
In training
Although he has not yet competed, he has been taken to various competitions for training; Grand Slam already has a solid foundation for his age and is progressing with dedication and ease in his training.
At present, he has mastered, in particular:
shoulders-in,
leg-yields,
appuyés,
foot changes,
advanced lateral work,
solid, well-established fundamentals.
His natural balance, responsiveness and willingness to perform well make working with him a particular pleasure. He learns quickly and provides his rider with a very positive riding experience.
At just 6 years old, his current level and potential for further development make him a particularly promising prospect for building a competitive dressage programme, with the aim of gradually progressing towards FEI Pony events.
Temperament & day-to-day behaviour
Grand Slam is a calm, well-balanced and willing pony.
In day-to-day life, he is also very practical:
easy to look after,
used to travelling,
easy to clip,
he goes out just as well on his own as in company,
and lives in the paddock.
His excellent temperament, combined with his willingness to work, makes him a particularly pleasant partner with whom to build a relationship of trust and make steady progress.
What kind of project?
Grand Slam is particularly well-suited to:
a young rider wishing to develop a dressage competition programme and progress towards FEI Pony events,
a child who is already confident and well-supervised,
a small adult,
an amateur or supervised amateur,
a para-dressage rider.
Already well advanced in his training at just 6 years old, Grand Slam combines dressage quality, a strong temperament and sporting potential. He still has plenty of room for improvement and represents a particularly attractive prospect for a rider wishing to build a genuine competitive programme with their pony.
