Description
Dream des Lauzes, also known as ‘Gris’, a 13-year-old Connemara PP. A D-class pony, standing approximately 147 cm.
It is with a heavy heart that we are posting this advert. Due to health and financial difficulties, we are now looking for THE PERFECT FAMILY for our Gris, who has brought so much joy to every member of our family with his extreme kindness and ease in everyday life!
He is a pack pony, having been broken in for trekking with a dog at his heels. He’s been everywhere – the forest, the road, the beach… He has mainly trekked on his own, but also with other ponies. Extremely reliable pony +++
Health-wise, he has never had any lameness issues; he is robust. He lives out in the field all year round and gets on perfectly with other ponies. He is neither submissive nor dominant. He also gets on well with sheep and goats.
He took part as a lead horse in a trail ride and was featured in the press.
Thanks to his excellent pedigree, he’s also a very good jumper, but where he’s happiest is out on a trail ride!
He has been ridden by our two daughters, aged 7 and 9. He is the perfect family pony. He taught my two daughters to ride, notably by leading their Shetland pony on a lunge line behind Gris, who was incredible – even at a gallop on the beach!
He’s fully up to date with all his vaccinations!
The perfect family for him: one with land at home that he’ll see every day. He’ll need some other friends! A family who’d prefer trail riding to riding in an arena. A family we’ll get on well with, and who’ll keep us updated. He’ll need to live in the north of France (Normandy, Brittany, etc.) where the climate doesn’t cause excessive dust. He was sold to us as having emphysema, but since coming to live with us in Normandy, he has been able to be fed hay for more than three-quarters of the year. Our land has allowed us to provide him with grass for the rest of the time. He has never had an attack since we’ve had him (5 years). He has coughed during heatwaves, but has never required treatment. He has been insured with Cheval Assur since we’ve had him, and we’ve never needed to make a claim for veterinary costs.
He is a real gem whom we’d love to see go to a family like ours, who treat their animals like their own children.
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. We are in absolutely no hurry for him to leave. He will only go if we have complete confidence in the person who will take him into their home.
As you’ll have gathered, no stables or riding club – just a lovely family +++
Just to give you a bit of background, we bought Gris to help me get back in the saddle and go trail riding on my own, as I was terrified after falling off horses. Gris has given me back far more than just confidence. In the meantime, our two daughters have taken up pony riding and are competing +++ we can no longer cope with the number of ponies at home and the financial demands of competition… as I have health issues, I can no longer ride as often as I’d like.
Gris will need to build up his back muscles again, as he has been ridden very little, or only by beginners. It won’t take long after a few trail rides!
We have a small riding arena on our property.
